Slow the printer so we save paper and trees.
Take your rubbish home.
Act with the environment not without.
If you give back as much trees as you take the world will survive.
No smoking because it harms the Ozone layer.Sustainability by Theo.K
Stop driving because it uses up gas and fossils fuels.
Use less paper and stop laminating.
Slow the printer.
Take your rubbish home and leave it there.
Act environmental.
If you give back trees as much as you take, there will never be no trees.
No smoking because it releases chemicals that break the ozone layer.Sustainability by Seton
SAVE OUR WORLD.
UNNECESSARY NEEDS ARE NOT NEEDS.
SOLAR POWER IS BETTER THAN COAL OR GAS.
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE.
ANIMALS NEED FOOD, FOOD CAN’T GROW WITHOUT THE ENVIRONMENT.
IF WE ARE NOT KIND TO THE WORLD IT WILL NOT BE KIND TO US.
NEEDS ARE NEEDS, THINK NEXT TIME YOU BUY SOMETHING. DO I WANT IT OR DO I NEED IT? Thursday, 23 October 2014

Let's Go Pancake Surprise!
On Thursday the 23 of October, Oakura School had a pancake day for whoever walked, caught the bus, or biked to school. People were marked with a smiley face to show they have walked and then they walked up to the kitchen to receive their delicious pancake. This event was to encourage people to walk, bike or bus to school.

Sewing Club
Over the last term Miss Bain has been working with a group of kids in lunch times to create an awesome soft toy. First we had to draw the shape we wanted. Then we drew it onto the material of our choice. Next we sewed the buttons on and the mouth. Finally we used the sewing machine to sew it all together and stuffed the toy with old pillows. After that we hand sewed the hole up and then it was done.
I think it is so awesome to have such a talented teacher!!!

Are we acting in a sustainable manner at school?
Some of the class had some understanding of what it means to be sustainable. They explained their ideas to the class. We then watched the top two videos and read some articles in school journals to expand our learning further. We're going to create an acrostic poem with our understanding of sustainability.

Sunflower buddy planting - Room 9 and 4
ROOM 9 & 4 SUNFLOWERS!
On Friday Rm 9 & 4 planted sunflowers! We went to the nursery with our buddies in groups of 5. First the room 9 students put a rubber glove on one hand and scooped up soil into both pots. Then the room 9 student poked a hole in the soil with their rubber glove hand and the room 4 buddy chose 2 seeds and put them in the holes and covered them up. After that we wrote our names on the tape and stuck it on our pot and placed them outside room nine. We had an awesome time planting our sun flowers and can't wait to see them grow! Thank you to Willow, Violette and her family for donating the sunflower seeds.

Keith Haring Style Art
KIETH HARING ART
THIS TERM ROOM 9 HAVE BEEN WORKING ON SOME "KEITH HARING" ART. WE ALL ENJOYED DOING OUR ART WORK AND WE HOPE YOU LIKE THEM TOO. IF YOU WANT YOU SHOULD TRY MAKING YOUR OWN "KEITH HARING" ART. BE CREATIVE AND USE YOUR OWN STYLE. DON'T BE AFRAID TO BE DIFFERENT. IF YOU'RE GOING TO DO KEITH HARING ART USE WATER COLOUR, DYE AND A VIVID PEN.
WRITTEN BY ALYSSA LAMB AND OLIVIA COOK
In Term 3 we started doing some Keith Haring art which is Pop Art. First we did a draft of the picture we wanted to do. Next we drew the final on a A4 piece of paper (we had to do movement lines for affect). After that we either dyed or water coloured inside our paintings and then we did the same for the background. Finally we went around all our lines in vivid.
Hope you like them! Written by Oliver.
